The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, notifies the public of the  guidelines in the Executive Secretary memorandum  dated 23 July 2021 about travel restrictions on travelers from Thailand.

The memorandum concerns the application of restrictions on passengers from Thailand, which will be in place from July 25, 2021, until July 31, 2021.

The travel restrictions is part of the Philippine government’s effort to curb the spread of the Delta version of the COVID-19 virus.

The advisory states that all passengers coming from or having been to Thailand within 14 days immediately preceding arrival in the Philippines are prohibited from entering the country.

Only Filipinos returning home via government-sponsored or non-government-sponsored repatriation initiatives, and special commercial flights permitted under existing IATF resolutions will be granted entry.

In addition, all travellers who have visited Thailand within 14 days of their arrival in the Philippines, and who arrive before 0001H on July 25, 2021 Manila time, are not prevented from entering the Philippines.

However, they must undertake an absolute facility-based 14-day quarantine period, regardless of a negative Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) result.

Meanwhile, the following laws apply to Filipinos and foreign passengers simply traveling through Thailand:

  • All passengers, whether Filipinos or foreigners merely transiting through Thailand, shall not be deemed as having come from or having been to said country, provided that they stayed in the airport the whole time and were not cleared for entry into such country by its immigration authorities.
  • Upon arrival in the Philippines, passengers covered by the immediately preceding paragraph need not complete a full 14-day facility-based quarantine, but shall comply with existing testing and quarantine protocols of the national government.

Whole Genome Sequencing will be performed on all specimens from passengers arriving from Thailand who test positive in the Philippines.

All close contacts must be quarantined for fourteen (14) days in a facility, and contact tracking will be extended to the third generation of contacts.
