The ladderized Diploma and Master of Arts in Language and Literacy Education (MALLE) programs of University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) are geared to upgrade and enhance language and literacy professionals including literacy teachers, like most of us who are here in Thailand.
The first step of the ladder, prior to the MALLE, is the Diploma in Language and Literacy Education (DLLE). It has a total course requirements of 21 units. Since the maximum load is only 6 units (equivalent of 2 courses), a student will be able to finish DLLE in 2 years.
Students in the DLLE program are not permitted to enroll in MALLE program courses until they have met the program’s admission requirements including a Qualifying Exam (QE).
