NAKHON SI THAMMARAT. In a rare show of support for the newly-launched organization “NST-Pinoyz,” about a hundred Filipinos, including children, garbed in their stylish Filipiniana and Barong Tagalog attires, joined the Panagtigum 2023 on the 10th of June at the Puranakhon Hotel in the city in celebration of the 125th Philippine Independence. Panagtigum is the Visayan term for ‘gathering.’
A parade-like entry of the participants into the hall commenced the festive celebration before 6 PM. In his welcome address, Dr. Marlon Sipe, the acting chair of the organization’s executive committee, thanked the officers and members of the Filipino community in the province for supporting the organization’s first activity after it was launched a month ago.
Winning logo entry and best dressed ‘kababayans’ were among those recognized in the event. Each of them received a cash prize and a certificate from the organizers. The winners of the night included the following:
Mr. Samuel Deloso – winner of the logo-making contest
Mr. Miguel Lorenzo Garcia – the Head turner of the Night
Ms. Dianne Valmoria – the Face of the Night
Earlier, the intermission number from the selected teachers of BWS started to energize the floor with their ‘Visayan’ folk dance, concluding the pre-dinner part of the party. Song numbers, raffle draws, and quiz bee were alternately held during dinner. Soon after, the city teachers with their dance numbers, ‘Awitin Mo at Isasayaw Ko’ and ‘Pinoy Ako, Pinoy Tayo’ formally opened the mob dance at half past eight, inviting everyone to the dance floor.
The event was organized by the NST-Pinoyz. The other members of the organization’s executive committee include Ms. Geraldine Pugoy, Mr. Vermiso Pugoy, Mr. Donald Valmoria, Mr. Jake Laurence Canumay, Mr. Dani Rondal Salagantin, Dr. Mark Ulla, and Dr. Henry Lemana II.
The party ended at half past ten late into the evening.
