P’lok Pinoyz elects new set of officers; sets sports event in March

PHITSANULOK, Thailand. The Filipino Council of Phitsanulok (P’lok Pinoyz) elected its new set of officers last month, December 17, 2022, during its year-end gala at the Grand Imperial Hotel.

Mr. Dennis Jones Dalida, a teacher at Phitsanulok Pittayakom School, took the lead as the seventh president of the council, which is in its 12th year.

“We will continue to spearhead worthwhile activities that will benefit the entire Filipino community in Phitsanulok,” Dalida said in his acceptance speech.

“We will try to bring P’lok Pinoyz to greater heights by staying true to our mandate of providing a home here in Thailand away from our home in the Philippines,” he added.

Since its inception in 2010, the P’lok Pinoyz council has organized various activities, including sporting events and enhancement seminars, which have been attended by members from Phitsanulok and its nearby provinces, such as Pichit, Khampaeng Phet, Uttaradit, and Nakhonsawan.

Other elected officers include: Mr. Pol Kirby Villoria, Vice-President; Miss Lynethe Sagulo, Secretary, Miss Unice Cubalit, Treasurer; Miss Ruth Leah Cubalit, Auditor, and Mr. Danree Mureal Bagarra, PRO.

TURN OVER. The out-going president, Mr. Kim Patrick Abe,  ceremonially turned-over his office to the incoming president, Mr. Dennis Jones Dalida.

Palarong P’lok Pinoyz 2023

Meanwhile, the newly installed P’lok Pinoyz council will organize the Palarong P’lok Pinoyz 2023 in March 5-6.

Four teams will be competing in the following main events:

  • Basketball (Men)
  • Chair Ball (Women)
  • Volleyball (Men and Women)
  • Tennis (Men and Women)
  • Badminton (Men and Women)
  • Table Tennis (Men and Women)

Filipinos in Phitsanulok are also expected to participate in games that include:

  • Tug of War
  • Chess
  • Patintero
  • Word Factory
  • Scrabble
  • Darts.

Dalida said the sporting event is just the first of the roster of events that the council has planned out for the entire year.

“There will be more exciting activities that the members can look forward to participating in the coming months,” he added.
