Thailand logs 17,345 Covid-19 new infections, 117 fatalities

The Ministry of Public Health announced on Friday 17,345 new infections, bringing the total to 578,345 since the pandemic started early last year.

Of the new cases, 16,664 new infections come from the general population and 681 among prison inmates.

Total recoveries also rose to 381,170 after 10,678 more patients recovered from the respiratory illness.

Meanwhile , the death toll climbed to 4,679 with 117 new fatalities.

On Thursday, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CSSA) reported the six provinces with the highest number of fatalities were Bangkok with 58, Samut Prakan with 32, Pathum Thani with 17, Nonthaburi with 9, Samot Sakhon with 6, and Nakhon Pathom with 5.
