The Philippines’ surfing capital , Siargao is among Time magazine’s 100 world’s greatest places of 2021.
Time says the list is a tribute to the people and firms at the frontline of those industries who, in the face of unusual conditions, discovered methods to adapt, build, and innovate.
The magazine’s list highlights originality, creativity, revitalization, and reopenings of 100 extraordinary places all across the world.
The nominations come from Time’s international network of journalists and contributors.
“The teardrop-shaped island off the coast of Mindanao until recently had been best known to a dedicated band of surfers lured by consistent waves,” writes Duncan Forgan.
He also shares that new destinations are emerging up on Siargao island for tourists to visit when it opens to international travelers.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s Bangkok and Khao Yai National Park are also among the world’s greatest places named by Time magazine this year.
